USMC Captain David “Seth” Mitchell
Loveland HS graduate 1997, played football at Loveland and wore jersey # 30,
Virginia Tech Graduate, USMC, was killed in Afghanistan Oct. 26 2009, in a helicopter crash while providing cover fire for a ground unit. Seth was a great American and is remembered as a wonderful student-athlete by his former teachers and coaches at LHS. During his time in the Marines, he received 10 medals and commendations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
